DALLAS, Texas – Quarterback Vad Lee capped a historic night with a 17-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver John Miller with 27 seconds on the clock to lead No. 9 (FCS) James Madison to a 48-45 victory over SMU on Sept. 26.

JMU racked up a whopping 729 yards of total offense, as Lee broke his own school record for total offense with 556 yards. The win moved JMU to 4-0 for the first time since the 1978 campaign and dropped SMU to 1-3 on the year.

The Dukes, who led by 10 on two occasions, fell behind, 45-41, with 2:04 to play after a pair of touchdown drives from the Mustangs. After a touchback on the ensuing kickoff, the Dukes used eight plays to march 75 yards in just 1:37.
